Caring for all who
care for all of us.
Coming by Summer 2022:
URJ congregations can choose to offer
the RPB plan to all employees.
We’re pleased to announce that URJ congregations will soon have the option to offer the RPB plan to more of your employees.
Anyone can become an RPB plan participant if they:
Are a member of one of the Reform Movement professional organizations (CCAR, NATA, ARJE, ECE-RJ, PEP-RJ, ATID), or
NEW! Work at least 18 hours per week at a URJ congregation and have a job that does not require membership in one of the above Reform Movement organizations to join RPB's retirement plan.
And are not eligible for the American Conference of Cantors retirement plan.
Why we are expanding eligibility
For more than 75 years, RPB has been helping strengthen the Reform Movement by providing a retirement plan to rabbis and other professional staff. Now by offering this broader access, we can truly fulfill our mission of serving all those who work tirelessly to care for our communities.
The expanded eligibility policy also enables congregations of all sizes to:
Provide a high-quality retirement plan to help attract and retain top talent.
Reduce the burden and cost of providing an alternative plan to employees who previously didn’t qualify for the RPB plan.
Meet their state-mandated retirement plan requirements, as applicable.
RPB will roll out details on the new eligibility rules in 2022.
At that time, we will also provide guidance to employers on how to:
Communicate the plan benefits to your employees.
Easily enroll your employees.
Convert existing employees from non-RPB plans to the RPB retirement plan.
Provide employees with resources to understand their financial situation and make the right investment choices for their needs.
